Empowering Young Artists in Surrey
We are the Youth Arts Council of Surrey (YACOS), a non-profit organization founded in 2004 with a mission to support young artists in Surrey, BC, while promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the arts. We connect youth ages 13–25 with local arts opportunities and provide a platform to showcase emerging talent.
We work closely with the Arts Council of Surrey, who support us with space at the Newton Cultural Centre, resources, and guidance for youth arts programming.

Our home is at the Newton Cultural Centre, a creative hub in the heart of Surrey where artists across Surrey gather to build community. Step inside and you will find a gallery, black box theatre, and meeting rooms where you can make your artistic visions come to life.

Throughout the year, we host free art events, exhibitions, and community collaborations that help youth build creative skills and professional networks. Check out our upcoming events and get involved with YACOS today.
Write On Contest 2026
Share your voice in our annual Write On Contest! We invite Surrey youth to submit an original piece of writing for a chance to showcase their creativity and be recognized for their talent.

Culture Crawl Youth Hub
This fall, YACOS will be hosting a Youth Art Hub as part of the 2026 Culture Crawl on October 3-4, 2026 from 12:00 – 5:00 PM, at Beecher Place (12160 Beecher St, Surrey).
